The POSHANCOVID-19 resources page is an online repository of various government circulars, national and international guidelines, and technical documents, on program implementation during the Pandemic. This is a compilation of COVID-19 resources focusing on nutrition, food security, early childhood development and related issues. The resources are categorized into topics and subtopics and can be accessed through the search function. The central and state-level policies since the start of the outbreak and lock-down are also provided in the efforts to restore essential services across the life cycle. The resources site is updated regularly, providing comprehensive evidence-informed guidance in nutrition and is publicly available for policymakers, researchers, health professionals and the general public.

Summary of response at the National level during the period April-June 2021
The Ministry of Education, Government of India has issued various guidance documents to States/UTs on how to continue the nutritional support to school children during the pandemic. On June 15, 2021, as a complement to the provision of free food grains provided under the Government’s Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) COVID response scheme, the Ministry of Education decided to provide monetary assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for Cooking cost, to all eligible children as per MDM norms, for the summer vacation period (May-June) as a one-time special welfare measure.
It may be noted that most schools are closed during this reporting period.

Guidelines on “Enabling Delivery of Essential Health Services during the COVID 19 Outbreak” in different zones:

  • IFA, Calcium, ORS, Zinc, Vitamin A, deworming, services for diarrhoea control and contraceptives can be provided through homes deliveries.
  • Promotion of teleconsultation.
  • ANC: In containment & buffer zones- provided to on-demand walk-in beneficiaries at health facilities. In beyond buffer & green zones- uninterrupted ANC services.
  • Immunization: Zero birth doses given in institutions everywhere. In containment & buffer zones- on-demand only to walk-in beneficiaries at health facility without active mobilization. In areas beyond buffer zones- through restricted outreach services (5 attendants at a time). In non-infected zones – through outreach sessions with social distancing.
  • Teleconsultation with high-risk pregnancies for early detection of complications, referral and follow up
  • Family planning: Family planning and safe abortion services to on-demand walk-in beneficiaries at health facilities without active mobilization
  • All health facilities should continue providing delivery services
  • Admissions to SNCU and NBSU to be continued; routine SNCU follow-up through teleconsultation
  • In containment & buffer zone- PNC/ HBNC through teleconsultation; health workers to utilize COVID-related home visits to provide PNC services. In beyond buffer & green zones- HBNC visits by ASHAs & PNC at health facilities

  • Teleconsultation with high-risk pregnancies for early detection of complications, referral and home based follow up, if required.
  • Ensure safe institutional deliveries; due list of EDD of pregnant women maintained at SHC; each pregnant woman to be linked with a health facility.
  • Promotion of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding, and Kangaroo Mother Care during home visits.
  • ANM/CHO to assess health of women and new-borns via home visits in case of home deliveries
  • Family planning and safe abortion services to on-demand walk-in beneficiaries at health facilities without active mobilization.
  • List of operational Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and New-born Care centres to be kept at peripheral facilities where high-risk pregnancies and women with complications are to be shifted.
  • Admissions to SNCU and NBSU to be continued; routine SNCU follow-up through teleconsultation.
  • NRC to be operational.
  • Ensure adequate supply of ORS and Amoxicillin at SHC.
  • HBNC visited to be continued as per schedule while following all precautions by ASHAs.
